The fully ventilated animal house of the Institute of Biochemistry and Biophysics (IBB), has an area of about 170 m2. The animal house, possesses 3 separated rooms for animal maintenance and production equipped with shelves, cages and other relevant accessory tools plus a newly assigned laboratory for researcher experimentation. The main missions of the animal house facility of IBB are:
• Promoting the good use and care of animals by the researchers working with animals.
• Supplying animals (at present mainly balbC mouse and wistar albino rats) to the University community, mainly the researchers from IBB.
• Providing maintenance service to the animals for those researchers in need of carrying out their animal experimentation under strict fulfilment of animal protection regulations/guidelines.
